This Case Epilogue written February 1, 2017 is intended to provide context to this web site as it documents a Canadian constitutional challenge spanning from 2004 to 2016. Bruce Montague determined to expose the constitutional violations in the Canadian Firearms Act. After being charged, mounting a constitutional challenge and appealing to the Supreme Court of Canada, Montague's case was dismissed without reasons. With Bruce in jail, the Montagues then faced an another twist of injustice -- the confiscation of their home and property by the Ontario government. The Montagues fought the civil forfeiture of their home for years until, in the summer of 2016, the Canadian Constitution Foundation was instrumental in negotiating with the Ontario Civil Forfeiture department to drop the lien against the Montague home. The Canadian Constitution Foundation deserves our support as they continue to fight other cases of injustice around the country. YOU COULD BE NEXT! Canada is undergoing a quiet revolution and your fundamental rights and freedoms are at stake!

Jan 26: Outcome of Jan24th Court Appearance

News Archive Index

January 26, 2005

To all our supporters in this charter challenge:

Donna and I had our court appearance on Monday Jan. 24th. Our cause was well represented in the court room with lots of supporters.

It was almost embarrassing when we were finished, because the court room almost emptied itself out! The judge definitely took notice when we all left at the same time, proving the value of having people show up in support -- it lets the courts know that this trial is significant!

Our next court appearance is set for April 25th.

The judge didn't want to delay the hearing any further than that date. He appeared to be somewhat agitated that the crown hadn't given us full disclosure yet. He very firmly TOLD the crown to make sure we have disclosure by the end of March. He then looked at me and told me we would have our disclosure and to be prepared to answer the charges and to set a trial date when April 25th arrives.

On another note, I attended our local riding association meeting on Sat. Jan. 22nd and was selected as one of the voting delegates to go to the Conservative Policy convention in Montreal this coming March 17th. This is where conservative members across the country get together to decide on party policy.

I will take this responsibility seriously and make sure the concerns of the people in this riding are heard. I want to help make sure that the next government listens to the will of the people and acts accordingly.

This week I 'hit the road' with a cross country road tour. The goal is to raise awareness of this important charter challenge and to raise the funds necessary to be successful at it. I will send updates by this news list to keep you all updated on the progress.

I would like to meet with as many concerned people as I can during this cross country trip. If you or someone you know would like to host a meeting while I'm touring, please let me know and I will do my best to meet with your club, association, or concerned citizens from your community. I will be checking my regular email account occasionally while on the road: bmontague@mail.drytel.net

Yours in Liberty,

Bruce.
