This Case Epilogue written February 1, 2017 is intended to provide context to this web site as it documents a Canadian constitutional challenge spanning from 2004 to 2016. Bruce Montague determined to expose the constitutional violations in the Canadian Firearms Act. After being charged, mounting a constitutional challenge and appealing to the Supreme Court of Canada, Montague's case was dismissed without reasons. With Bruce in jail, the Montagues then faced an another twist of injustice -- the confiscation of their home and property by the Ontario government. The Montagues fought the civil forfeiture of their home for years until, in the summer of 2016, the Canadian Constitution Foundation was instrumental in negotiating with the Ontario Civil Forfeiture department to drop the lien against the Montague home. The Canadian Constitution Foundation deserves our support as they continue to fight other cases of injustice around the country. YOU COULD BE NEXT! Canada is undergoing a quiet revolution and your fundamental rights and freedoms are at stake!

Feb25: Western Tour Summary

News Archive Index

Dear supporters:

Just got back home after one month of driving and talking in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. It sure is a different lifestyle than working in my shop everyday. My hands have never looked so clean and white!

I think our charter challenge is becoming well known now in the three most western provinces. Raising awareness is the first goal of this road tour, and I think that went very well. Following is a brief list of what I've been up to during the past month:

  1. Information Rallies (8 in total): (Total raised was close to $10,000. See itinerary for details.)
    • In BC; Rock Creek, Chilliwack, Williams Lake, and Prince George.
    • In Alberta; Rocky Mountain House, and Westlock.
    • In Saskatchewan; Moose Jaw (2)
  2. Television Interviews:
    • Feb 16th -CTV out of Saskatoon
    • Feb 18th -CBC (French) out of Regina. (while I was at the SWF convention)
  3. Radio talk shows
    • Feb 8th talk show interview with Quint Lang while in Westlock
    • Feb 8th talk show interview with Jim Fisher while in Westlock. Got very good coverage with this one.
    • Feb 21st talk show interview with Murray Wood out of Regina. This was almost an hour long interview that also took in callers.
  4. Numerous interviews with many newspapers and radio stations along the way.

I met with many high profile people during this trip. The goal is to get as many of the "movers and shakers" on board with our purpose as possible. While at the SWF conference in Regina, I had an encouraging talk with Garry Breitkreuz about our charter challenge. (Garry is a very staunch critic of our Firearms Act and is the CPC MP from this area)

The second goal of this road tour is to raise enough money to be able to put together a successful charter challenge. Although we still have a long way to go, I am confident that momentum will grow as the tour continues. Once more people are aware of this opportunity to quash bill C-68 (the Firearms Act) we may see more possibilities for more speaking engagements to raise funds with. Another road tour may have to be done.

Right now, I am busy preparing the eastern part of the road tour. Over half of the eastern tour is now filled. It looks like the eastern part of the tour is going to be much busier than the west. If any of you who are in southern Ontario would like to help with an information rally, I am still trying to fill in the first two weeks of April in that area. (ex. Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener, etc.)

All in all, I think I'm adapting well to this dramatic change in my lifestyle. God has provided very well for us, and has given us the opportunity to challenge this unjust law. I pray daily that God will give me the strength to carry on in this challenge and not to let down my fellow Canadians. So far He has answered my prayers by giving me the many supporters across the country that help keep me focused and motivated (as well as my internal resolve to see this through).

I would also like to thank those that have helped by giving my wife Donna a quick call or e-mail of support while I was away. Just because she is not on the road like me, doesn't mean that she isn't stressed out by the ordeal. (I think she is more stressed out about this than I am.)

Thank you all for your continued support, and I look forward to meeting more of you as I continue across the country. It sure is nice to see some faces associated with the names I've been conversing with by e-mail.

Yours in Liberty,

Bruce.

For in a Republic, who is "the country?" Is it the Government which is for the moment in the saddle? Why, the Government is merely a servant- merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn't. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them. - Mark Twain
