This Case Epilogue written February 1, 2017 is intended to provide context to this web site as it documents a Canadian constitutional challenge spanning from 2004 to 2016. Bruce Montague determined to expose the constitutional violations in the Canadian Firearms Act. After being charged, mounting a constitutional challenge and appealing to the Supreme Court of Canada, Montague's case was dismissed without reasons. With Bruce in jail, the Montagues then faced an another twist of injustice -- the confiscation of their home and property by the Ontario government. The Montagues fought the civil forfeiture of their home for years until, in the summer of 2016, the Canadian Constitution Foundation was instrumental in negotiating with the Ontario Civil Forfeiture department to drop the lien against the Montague home. The Canadian Constitution Foundation deserves our support as they continue to fight other cases of injustice around the country. YOU COULD BE NEXT! Canada is undergoing a quiet revolution and your fundamental rights and freedoms are at stake!

Dec9: Hidden Agenda Finally Revealed

News Archive Index

December 9, 2005

Dear fellow supporters:

I listened with interest as Paul Martin announced his plan to ban all handguns in Canada. This is so typical of the Liberals, to sell us a law under false pretences. When the Liberals wrote the Firearms Act (formerly known as Bill C-68), they assured us "The Firearms Act is about licensing and registration, not confiscation." (quote from Justice Minister Anne McLellan). That was in 1998 when I was interviewed alongside her about the debate on Gun Control.

I maintained then, and now, that our gun control laws are specifically designed to take away guns (all guns) from the law-abiding segment of society. That was the hidden agenda that they are now trying to put into action.

Something else happens when you allow a law to stand that can take away a person's LEGALLY owned guns. It paves the way for them to take away ANY personal property you may have. Just look at how the government is taking away my home just because they don't like my legal challenge to what I see as a bad law. Canadians are losing their property rights at an alarming rate. How much do you value your property?

Mark my words. If this ban goes through we will see an INCREASE in gun violence not a decrease. That is what happens everywhere in the world where they try to ban guns. I'd love to expand on this but there isn't enough room in this editorial. I'll give you this to think about though; "How many guns do you think the criminals will turn in?!?!"

I find it disgusting that Paul Martin has so little regard for others people's property. He is willing to sacrifice our property for his own political gains. The really sad part is that it will do nothing to improve public safety or crime control.

Let's make sure the public is aware of this Liberal deceit during this election campaign.

Yours in Liberty,

Bruce Montague.
