This Case Epilogue written February 1, 2017 is intended to provide context to this web site as it documents a Canadian constitutional challenge spanning from 2004 to 2016. Bruce Montague determined to expose the constitutional violations in the Canadian Firearms Act. After being charged, mounting a constitutional challenge and appealing to the Supreme Court of Canada, Montague's case was dismissed without reasons. With Bruce in jail, the Montagues then faced an another twist of injustice -- the confiscation of their home and property by the Ontario government. The Montagues fought the civil forfeiture of their home for years until, in the summer of 2016, the Canadian Constitution Foundation was instrumental in negotiating with the Ontario Civil Forfeiture department to drop the lien against the Montague home. The Canadian Constitution Foundation deserves our support as they continue to fight other cases of injustice around the country. YOU COULD BE NEXT! Canada is undergoing a quiet revolution and your fundamental rights and freedoms are at stake!

The Question - A Poem by Doug Christie

Resources Index
Source: by Douglas Christie

A tidal wave of tyranny is spreading through the land.
A question haunts my memory, should I take a stand?
Doth the watchman on the wall still dare make a cry?
Or doth he sit in cold despair and simply make a sigh?
He has seen the creeping terror of despair
But a question still is hanging in the air
Can the bureaucrat provide all the warmth we seek to find
Or will truth give forth a challenge to the blind
Awake! Comes forth a warning - throw off the deadening rules
Before it makes of us a gang of knaves and fools
We are drowning in a sea of confusing paper chains
Sections and subsections quoting sections causing trouble in our brains
They refer to one another like the coiling of a snake
Creating all in the image of a God we cannot take
They refuse to clearly state the thing they mean
There is nothing in their essence, which reveals their true intent
There is no place where it is said that we are clean.
The state has power enough to save, or so they say as they enslave
As each his useless job endures, his loss of purpose he observes.
Useless people, useless jobs, they turn themselves to useless blobs.
In endless appetites escape to prove that men descend from apes.
To fix this dogma in solid stone, they gave to every dog a bone.
A bitter piece of power to share, we take away if ever you dare.
To question the state's glorious plan, which is to create the subservient man.
The servile man whose every move must fit the state's established groove.
To slide from birth to quiet end, in a state run home without a friend.
The state can make. The state can break. The state alone your soul can take.
The creed of those who play the game, make sure your thoughts are all the same.
Dream no dream and have no thought - unless within the mainstream taught.
They never stray to foreign ground, within the fold they're always found.
We must refrain from finding fault within the realm of lame and halt
The blind of heart we do commend, for they best to the State will bend
They ponder on no higher power and hence before the state they cower.
The reward for service they desire, a pension for their lifetime's hire.
They serve with such guile and tact, they always pay their income tax
And every moment of every day - we hear them mutter as they pray.
"Oh Holy State you glorious god - keep issuing my paper pay
your bills I worship and appraise - your currency rewards my days
And every time I issue lies, you raise my name unto the skies
So holy State I offer you, a daily gift of lies renewed.
For every lie that I shall tell, you will reward me very well
And as I be with you each new day, it makes it easier to say.
"I do not lie, I tell you true, they are promoting me not you.
For look around and you will see, the high and mighty honour me
For as I bow before thy throne, thy throne I get to call my own.
They honour every thing I do, they say to all the world I'm true.
I'm brave and honest, wise and strong, as I recite this holy song,
"The State is good and keeps us safe, as long as each will know his place"
Obedience the State's one goal, what need have I of my own soul"
The State has power to set me free - to question this is anarchy;
It must be so as I can see - as long as I can bury "me".
The me that whispers liberty, it places comfort in jeopardy
The me that haunts my night time thought, the me that I have always fought
The me that says I come from God. That says I will not be in sod.
The me that whispers in my soul. Return to God who makes you whole
Two Gods at war within my mind. The God of State and the other kind.
The answer now I seek to find - Who has in me the ties that bind.

To Bruce, a warrior for Freedom, and Donna for your courage and kindness.
From Doug Christie, Dec. 6, 2007.
