Fighting the government's property seizure laws is the monumental legal and media battle presently faced by the Montagues and their supporters.
The Montagues knew the firearms act was unjust, so they sought to expose its consitutional violations and have it struck down as bad law. Well, that's all history now. The government first tried to smear the Montagues as terrorists which failed. They then sentenced Bruce to 18 months in jail for paperwork violations, after the Supreme Court ignored Montague's appeal. Finally the government has seized the Montague's home, as well all their firearms, and is seeking to have their property forfeit to the crown.
This move by the government shifts the Montagues' legal case to be a personal legal threat facing every citizen. Before it was preceived as an issue of concern primarily for "firearms owners."
